THE SIMPSONS GO BAZAAR
I used to keep pretty much every copy of every magazine I subscribed to, which obviously grew to be a bit of a problem. So these days, I just hold onto special editions of magazines, though I do still have my back issues of Dazed & Confused and The Face, which I don't think I'll ever part with.
Anyhoo, whilst having a bit of a clear out the other day, I came across a copy of Harper's Bazaar's August 2007 issue with this fabulous piece featuring The Simpsons, Linda Evangelista and a host of A-list designers. I love Marge in Chanel, Lisa rocking those pearls for Lanvin and how about Homer seated front row at Louis Vuitton?!

CHANEL No.5 - FOR THE FIRST TIME
I wanted to share this video I discovered with you. Chanel No.5 is the most iconic of fragrances in the world and this short film is an interesting and artistic narrative of it's journey from inception to world domination.

ROAST BOWL
Mr. Sykes and I had a rather unsuccessful visit to the Pasadena Rosebowl Flea Market last Sunday. I guess I bragged one time too many about how I always find the exact thing I'm looking for every time I go. I needed bringing down a peg or two.
Ugh! It was such a bummer. Not to mention hotter than a... (fill in the expletive!)
The heat gave me an opportunity to take out my oft forgotten parasol, and rattan visor, which almost made the bum trip worth it-but not quite.
Despite the disappointment, I'm sure I'll be back next month to try again. I will share my spoils with you here, because I always find the exact thing I'm looking for every time I go to the Rosebowl! ; )

MAKE UP BAG
I'd be lying if I tried to front and pretend that these are the only items in my make up bag. After x amount of years of being on film and TV sets, I've accumulated quite a kit. Okay, I admit it's actually a little out of control, but that's a story for another time.
For now I thought I'd share my go to staple pieces with you.
BASE - There's a reason they call it Foundation. A good base sets the stage for the whole look, brightens your skin, hiding those annoying blemishes (we all have 'em!) and done properly evens out any inconsistencies.
In My Bag - Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation
EYES - I've always believed that you can't go wrong with a black liquid eyeliner. Depending on your mood, you can rock a thick sixties mod look, thin sexy cats eyes or whatever takes your fancy. Then of course, it's all about the mascara. I'm useless with applying false lashes, I always end up looking a little coo coo for Coco Puffs! Instead, I go for a mascara that gives major volume. I apply it sparingly in the daytime and whack it on super thick in the evening.
In My Bag - Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
CHEEKS - I feel like the whole look comes alive with the blusher. You have to be careful not to go too crazy though or the look gets a bit Bozo the Clown. I'm happy to go for a powder or a cream blush and sometimes I like to use the two together to get more of a pop. Don't be embarrassed to give yourself a big cheesy grin in the mirror and hit the apples of your cheeks with color.
In My Bag - Chanel Powder Blush Rose Petale
LIPS - There are so many options on the lip front, it can get a bit overwhelming. So I tend to stick with the same brands and colors that I know work for me. I love a vibrant red lipstick, but really only wore it in the evening until recently. I think there's something about being in Manhattan with it's wild energy, that had me step it up a notch and I've been working the red at all hours of the day. Give it a try for an extra pep in your step! For those days when I'm feeling a little more subdued, I'll go for a neutral gloss in a pink or brown tone.

IN THE CITY
I just had to take my new purse for a stroll around the City today. Though when I get something new that I really love, I'm always afraid I'm going to ruin it immediately. Like falling head first into a muddy puddle or something. Luckily there was no such incident and we made it home safely!
I've owned the bird necklace for a few years now, I bought it in LA at the now defunct Kaviar and Kind. However, Kathy Rose (formally of K and K) has an amazing new store named Roseark, with all kinds of delectable jewels on offer. The spike earrings are Pamela Love
This dress by The Reformation makes me feel feminine and girly, but the open back and splits in the front bring a bit of naughty spice to the look. Meow!
I'm a big fan of chunky sandals, something with a bit of meat on the bones. These
ones by Dolce Vita fit the bill.

DOWN TO EARTH
I love my Chanel ballet flats. I justify owning so many pairs, because I wear them with almost everything. They are such a timeless piece and I know I'll continue to wear them as the years go by.
Looking for a place to take these pictures on set today, Sharif and I came across these planets (thanks for being my lens man buddy!) I guess I'll find out what they're for when we shoot the next episode.
