THE WHOLE SPECTRUM

I am just blown away by this breathtaking thread installation by artist Gabriel Dawe. Plexus no. 19 consists of two thread structures that are streamed across upper and lower balconies of a historical villa in Como, Italy.

The visitor is encouraged to interact with the exhibit from different angles, levels and times of day as all of this constantly changes the experience.

I wish wish wish I could go see this and am so jealous of anyone in Como right now! It looks like a magical experience.

INTO THE BLUE

In our house, Sunday is a day for Skyping with family back in England. I manage to accomplish all sorts of things as I video chat. I'm talking doing the laundry, handling paperwork, gardening - I'm quite the multitasker even if I do say so myself!

I was putting this outfit together as I chatted it up with my Mama last Sunday and she exclaimed "Ooh, loving your Peplum Blouse!"

I gotta tell you that made me so happy. My Mum is my No.1 fashion icon and a nod of approval from her always means so much.

I too am loving this peplum look, I think the cobalt blue is so fierce and the opening in the back is a cool little detail. Speaking of backs, this is my first backpack/rucksack in about 10 years and like Jonah in 21 Jump Street, I'm rocking two straps!

CURTIS JERE

The C. Jere studio was founded by Curtis Freiler & Jerry Fels and operated from the late sixties to the early eighties. Their goal? To produce gallery quality design for the masses with prices varying from the low hundreds into the thousands.

Vintage Curtis Jere wall sculptures have seen quite the revival in recent years and Jonathan Adler bought the rights to reproduce some of the companies signature designs a few years ago.

I found each of the above pieces for our home at different venues over the past few years. The trio of birds were an eBay win. The multiple bird piece was purchased at an estate sale and the Sea Urchins are from the Jonathan Adler, C. Jere reprisal.

Do beware of cheap imitations though and don't get too close or you'll have your eye out!

ANIMAL PRINT

ANIMAL PRINT
I rejected animal print clothing for years. I thought it was a bit vulgar and too reminiscent of Bet Lynch! (Or Scary Spice).

For those of you not familiar with Britain's long running beloved soap opera, Coronation Street, Bet Lynch was a chain smoking, leopard print wearing barmaid with a blonde beehive for days.
Not really the look I was going for in my twenties (or at anytime if I'm honest!)

However, I guess there's a bit of Bet in all of us, because I have a confession to make - I LOVE ANIMAL PRINTS!

Once I finally admitted that to myself, I kinda went bananas; jeans, blouses, shoes, socks. You name it and I own it in some kind of Leopard or Cheetah print.

So I wanted to share this seasons must have animal print items with you here.
Enjoy!

RAH RAH RAH

I def got a bunch of funny looks as I stood dancing and shimmying in the street for this shoot. But I mean, come on-look at this skirt, it's made for a bit of shaky shaky!

So in the words of Andre 3000, I just had to "shake it like a Polaroid picture!"

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY

I am so bloody bummed and I need to vent!

After waiting TWO weeks for this fierce lace peplum skirt to snail mail it's way to me from Topshop, it doesn't fit AND is completely sold out!! Argh!! I am so disappointed. Why didn't I order it in multiple sizes? Whhhhhyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

The new Topshop store opening in Los Angeles next Spring can't come quick enough for my liking.
I guess you win some, you lose some and in this case-I'm a big loser! Bah! ; )
