GLSEN RESPECT AWARDS

Mr. Sykes and I had the honor of attending the GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) RESPECT AWARDS last week. GLSEN is the leading national organization focused on ensuring a safe environment for all students. Their vision is a world in which every child learns to respect all people regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Our friends Matt Bomer and Simon Halls were being honored with the 2012 Inspiration Award, along with Marilyn & Jeffrey Katzenberg (2012 Lifetime Achievement Award), Bob & Harvey Weinstein (2012 Chairman's Award) and Luis Veloz who received the Student Advocate of the Year Award.

We met so many amazing kids who have been helped by GLSEN and in turn are working to help and support children across the country. We also met kids who were simply inspired by the work GLSEN does and galvanized their schools and communities to create anti intolerance groups. Honestly, I have never been surrounded by a more impressive group of teenagers-truly an inspiration.

Visit GLSEN's website for more information.

  3. You looked beautiful!! I have so much respect for GLSEN and the work they do - so great to see Matt and Simon being recognized for their work and for the WC cast to show their support as well!

  4. Oh, I love your earrings. Wish I could carry such big ones myself! Anyway, I really respect and admire the work GLSEN does - the only sad thing is that there actually is a need for such an organization. It should be obvious to everyone that each and every person in the world is a PERSON no matter sexual orientation (or religion or anything else for that matter).

That Matt and Simon received an award is just and extra bonus to a Collar like me, but I definitely understand why they were chosen. Props to everyone!

  6. Marsha, your red carpet looks are delightful. I previously assisted a photojournalist, uploading images to agency photo sites like Getty, WireImage, etc. From that, I ran across safe and daring looks from all these social functions. You can sort of feel out who is working closely with a stylist to make a clotheshorse out of her. Anyway! I would always see you here and there, rocking a piece so plenty chic, I wanted to know where you were shopping. Now that you've got this blog up, and looking over some past photos I ran across of you at events, it's wonderfully inspiring to see that your personal touch is present in near everything!
