Mr. Sykes and I had been trying to make the time to visit The Whitney Museum for the past month, (I'll admit we've been guilty of procrastination from time to time!)
We finally made it there this week and had an inspiring look at the Yayoi Kusama exhibit.
Kusama is an award winning artist who has been creating art in a variety of media for more than five decades. She's also a writer, filmmaker, and fashion designer.
Kusama recently collaborated with Louis Vuitton on a fabulous collection of vibrant fabrics and polka dots. The Louis Vuitton website has a series of films and interviews dedicated to Yayoi Kusama. They also have a fun iPhone app that re imagines your images with dots, waves and mirrors. Check out mine below.
Here are a few examples of the work on display at The Whitney until September 30th:

creative. I like the one where it looks like fireflies are all in one place illuminating the picture
ReplyDeleteGood eye! That piece is called Fireflies on the Water.

ReplyDeleteIt's really nice.
ReplyDeleteI would see it to myself.
But it's nearly impossible. Well, maybe not impossible, but at least improbable.
Well, maybe sometimes i'll be able to go.
Thanks for let us know about it.
Kisses from italy
I'm glad I could share these pictures with you then.
DeleteI love Kusama's work! I sadly never got to see the ‘Look Now, See Forever’ exhibit in Brisbane, but friends who went said it was stunning especially the 'Obliteration Room'. Apparently by the end of the exhibit it was just a sea of colour and kind of a bit trippy - Obliteration Room 2011 - GoMA
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the link to The Obliteration Room-wow! Kusama really is something else man!
