ROW YOUR BOAT

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.

FRANK OCEAN

If you're not already tuned in to Frank Ocean's debut album, Channel Orange then I implore you to remedy that immediately. My friend (and the lead of our show, White Collar) Matt Bomer asked me everyday for about 2 weeks if I'd bought it yet.

Eventually I did and it's been my go to pretty much everyday since, (thank you Matt!) Which is saying a lot, cos I'm an NPR and podcast junkie and hard pushed to listen to anything else!

A fuse of R&B, Funk and Soul, every track is a winner. Though my stand outs are Pyramids, Thinkin' Bout You, Super Rich Kids and Sweet Life.

You can listen to a sample of the tracks here before you buy.

Seriously, go get it.

YAYOI KUSAMA

Mr. Sykes and I had been trying to make the time to visit The Whitney Museum for the past month, (I'll admit we've been guilty of procrastination from time to time!)
We finally made it there this week and had an inspiring look at the Yayoi Kusama exhibit.

Kusama is an award winning artist who has been creating art in a variety of media for more than five decades. She's also a writer, filmmaker, and fashion designer.

Kusama recently collaborated with Louis Vuitton on a fabulous collection of vibrant fabrics and polka dots. The Louis Vuitton website has a series of films and interviews dedicated to Yayoi Kusama. They also have a fun iPhone app that re imagines your images with dots, waves and mirrors. Check out mine below.

Here are a few examples of the work on display at The Whitney until September 30th:

SCHOOL DAZE

How cool is this school? (Yes, I am a poet!)
Mr. Sykes and I pass this wall art pretty much everyday, as we walk our pooch Baxter. It always induces a smile from me, with it's multi cultural characters and positive message.

TAKE THE CAKE

I'm a voracious reader. My big literary achievement of the year was completing The Count of Monte Cristo with great aplomb in just a couple of weeks (I cannot recommend it enough btw).

Another thing you may not know about me, is that I'm a ridiculous sugar fiend. I love chocolate and candy and cakes and ice cream and chocolate and candy and...well, you get the picture.

So imagine my delight when I came across these images of bookish delectables from Victoria's Kitchen of Chiswick, London.

Look at these things! Do you eat, read or frame them?

I implore any of you lucky enough to be in London right now, to get your butts over to W4 and chow down on The Great Gatsby for me.

CALL ME

Top: Veda. Jeans: Nasty Gal.
Shoes: Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony.
Necklace: Unknown designer (sorry!)
Chevron Reveal Ring w/Turquoise: Pamela Love at Bona Drag.
Open spike pinky Ring: Make Her Think.

I bought these amazing high rise Tropicana Jeans from Nasty Gal about a week ago, but it's been way too hot to even think about wearing them. However, today I decided enough is enough, I needed to take these suckers for a spin.
I'll admit it was indeed, way too hot and once the pictures were done I was straight into a pair of shorts. But me and my Tropicana's are going to have a good time this Fall.

The top is by Veda, one of my favorite labels. I have a bunch of leather jackets that I pretty much live in when the weather permits. They also have wonderful complete collections. Check out the Veda site here.
